I wanted to share a good day I had yesterday and my days continue to get better each day, YEA !!! I am finding that I am able to walk a little further each day as well I am noticing it is getting easier to walk so I guess my body is adapting to this big change that has occurred to me.
Mom had a great idea to capture me in slow mo video catching my toy. So I took the easy road and laid there while Mom through me the toy, gotta luv life !!
Where dud u get his harness?? Our dog Ike is scheduled for rear leg amputation next week and we r looking for harness to help lift him up if he needs help. Thanks.
Hello,
I got my EasyDog harness from Amazon, but I seen it on the Tripawds website under Tripawds Gear. I am including the link for this harness. I will mention that I did not really start using this harness until after the two week period after the amputation since I still needed more rearend support than what this harness can provide. Now that Dekoh is getting stronger I use this harness exclusively just to give me a handle to use.

I also got the following two harnesses:
TopDog Health – Support Rx Total Body Harness for Dogs – More than a Sling (Amazon)
NOTE: I got this harness a long time ago when Dekoh had a TPLO knee surgery in 2014, but I used it 95% of the time for the first two weeks after his amputation since it gave me more support for Dekoh in the back end as well it has a nice sling for the entire chest. The other thing for this harness is that it goes on and off very easy.
Ruffwear – Web Master Harness
NOTE: I got this from my vet the day of Dekoh’s amp and it works ok, but the issue is the straps are too narrow and the strap that was over Dekoh’s belly was causing a rash from when I was using the handle to really help Dekoh stand and walk. I then got an accessory called the Ruffwear Brush Guard for this harness so that it is solid for his entire chest area and it no longer has the narrow straps to rub on him. I tend to use this harness when I go to the vet so I have more controller over the entire body, but I do not leave it on long since it is tight on his front chest area when he lays down.
Another couple of items I would recommend:
Big Barker 7″ Pillow Top Orthopedic Dog Bed for Large and Extra Large Breed Dogs (Sleek Edition)
NOTE: This is an AWESOME bed for your pooch after amputation since it is a solid foam bed it makes it easier for Dekoh to get around on it as a Tri. Also I have laid on this bed myself and heck I would like to have it for my own bed that is how comfortable it is. This bed is also on the Tripawds website under the Tripawd Gear link, but I ordered it from Amazon instead. This is kind of an expensive bed but it is so worth it for your pooch to be comfortable and have it easy to get around on instead of a soft bed that was harder for Dekoh to get on with three legs.
K9 Immunity Plus
NOTE: This is on the Tripawds website as well but I ordered directly from http://www.k9medicinals.com. This was recommended by our oncologists as another way to help boost Dekoh’s immunity while doing the chemo, but I plan on keeping him on it from now on just to help his body fight bad stuff. This is really fishy so I put it in some canned dog food to get Dekoh to eat them. I am not saying you have to have this but it sure is helping from what I can tell thus far.
I figure you probably have been told already, but if you have tile or hardwood floors it is highly recommended to get throw rugs that do not slip for the slick floors or your pooch is going to have a hard time getting around. I am actually looking to get some indoor/outdoor carpeting from Home Depot and put some rug backing on it so I can cut this to the exact size I need for the areas I want to cover.
I am still very new at this Tripawd thing but my Dekoh is teaching me a lot and I am learning a lot from this website. I also downloaded two books from Tripawd called Three Legs & a Spare and Loving Life on Three Legs. I have found there is a huge amount of great information in these two e-books and they are not that long of reading.
If you have other questions I will try to help how I can from my experiences thus far, 4 weeks into the Tri world.
Thx
Larry
