Dekoh's amputation due to osteosarcoma journey

Author: Dekoh (Page 12 of 13)

I am an avid outdoors person who enjoys nice walks with my best sidekick Dekoh.

Party Night with Justin

I got an awesome night with my fur bro Justin (Mom and Dad son) the other night while Mom and Dad took some time to go out with some friends this past Monday (7/11/16) evening. Justin and I had a great time after Mom and Dad left us at the house. The first thing we did was just chill out for a while after supper to just relax. Justin then took me outside to the backyard to lay around in the grass and feel the nice evening breeze which was awesome. After about an hour in the backyard we came back inside to relax some more then Justin gave me my frozen treat to enjoy and did I enjoy it or what, mmmmmmm good !!

When Mom and Dad got home I was in bed sound a sleep but I was very happy to see them home safe. Justin took great care of me as he always does and I greatly appreciate having Justin take care of me. I have an awesome supporting family. I want to include some cool pictures that Justin took of us having a great time.

Prognosis After ALP Level Check

Dad just got a call from my oncologist concerning the blood work from last Friday for my first chemotherapy treatment. The blood work all came back with great results especially the ALP (alkaline phosphatase) levels. The doctor said that my ALP level basically has stayed the same two weeks after my amputation so she was very pleased with this and said this improves my prognosis, YEA !!! I am not sure exactly how this improves my prognosis so Dad is waiting on a call back to explain this, which I will update this blog once Dad gets more information. I was just excited to share some good news.

Happy Monday !!

Update 7/13/16:

So Dad was able to talk with my oncologist to have a better understanding of ALP. As mentioned above serum ALP is a prognostic indicator to understand the approximate lifespan, which is all theory, for me. The initial prognosis was 6-12 months but with the latest blood work ALP levels remained the same as they were before amputation so now the prognosis is 12-18 months or longer. I will do my best to stay healthy with plenty of rest and eating great food as well my Dad has ordered me some K9 Immunity Plus to begin taking to help me out. All I can say is that I am enjoying every single day even more than I did before my diagnosis.

Enjoying The Neighborhood

I was able to meet up with a few folks in the neighborhood last night during our leisurely walk in the hood. I always love to see and meet folks especially kids since they play with me, but I only got lots of petting and loves which is awesome. I love the shirt that Conley is wearing, makes total sense, Dekoh is a big deal !!!

Great Night’s Sleep

Hello world. I am so happy that I no longer need to take any pain meds. The last Tramadol I have taken was this past Friday morning and I have not felt that I need any, which is making me feel sooooo much better. I no longer feel cloudy and blaw, but I know I know I needed the pain meds to keep myself comfortable which helps with the healing. The past two nights have been awesome sleeping with the AC running and a fan blowing light air on me, MAN OH MAN is that good sleeping or what.

I am able to sleep from 10:30 pm until 7:00 am with no issues and I feel so rested for the day’s activities. We had another great day in the park this morning before it got hot here in the Denver area, but it felt so good to lay in the grass and feel the breeze blow across me. Dad and I laid in the grass for what seems hours but I know it was not that long, it just felt good. I seen a squirrel run up a tree and I was so excited to see it, that was my first squirrel I have seen in weeks, such fun giving them a hard time.

Well I am going to take a little nap and get rested for my next adventure. I hope everybody out there in Tripawd land has a great day and do some hopping for me :>)

Dad found this great saying that he wanted to share:

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

First Saturday Morning At Park

So folks this is a huge milestone for me today. This is the first time I have been able to take my Saturday morning ride and a walk in the park (granted it is not the dog park, which I can’t do until I am done with chemo due to my immunity being compromised). I have not been able to do this in 5 weeks and boy I sure have been wanting to do this. The only thing we did not get to do is to go to the pool for a swim but Dad said I will be able to do that after the next 3 weeks for my chemo to settle in, but you know what I felt GREAT to just chill in the park with Dad. After the park we took nice ride in the country and through the neighborhood to check things out since I have not seen the hood for about 7 weeks. I got to visit with some folks I have not seen for a while which was nice but then I had to tell them the news of my leg. I told them this is only a little set back and as I get stronger I will be out and about.

This was a GREAT DAY !!!

We are loaded up and going to the park.

Sitting in my seat in the truck going to the park, YEA !!!
